THIS IS AN UPDATE ON OUR LEGISLATIVE ALERT OF APRIL 2, 2008
The good news is that the Maine House of Representatives passed LD 2019 on Friday the 4th and the bill now sits in the Maine Senate awaiting action. If your calls result in a positive vote in the Senate, the bill will move to the Appropriations Committee which will also need "convincing" that LD 2019 is worthy of support.
PLEASE CONTACT YOUR MAINE STATE SENATORS AND ASK THEIR SUPPORT FOR LD 2019 - NO MATTER WHAT DISTRICT - ALL SENATORS - REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRAT. THE PRESERVATION AND EXPANSION OF AMTRAK'S DOWNEASTER IS A BI-PARTISAN ISSUE.
The vote could be taken as early as tomorrow, April 8 or later in the week so please make your calls now.
