Saturday, July 24, 2004 - Amtrak's Downeaster train - idled during the democratic national convention in Boston - makes trip from Portland to Brunswick to meet the Maine Eastern RR special from Rockland. Enjoy the slide show made up of photos taken by TrainRiders/Northeast Train Host Paula Bedell from Yarmouth. (TrainRiders/Northeast provided host service for the inaugural train.) After the two trains met - passengers were exchanged and the trains returned to their originating stations where the passengers had a short time to sightsee before returning to Brunswick for another "meet and swap" of passengers before again returning to their
originating stations. A memorable day for trains on one of Maine's most scenic routes. Enjoy!
