Earlier than Expected!
We all knew it would happen sooner or later! Backin December of 2001, when the first Downeaster train ran between Portland and Boston, naysayers predicted it wouldn't carry the millionth passenger for 5 years.
Naysayers were wrong!
Ethel Hubert of Salem, New Hampshire became the millionth passenger on Friday, September 9, 2005 on Train 686 departing Portland at 3:40pm and will receive a one year, ulimited ride pass on the Downeaster and assorted other gifts.
