Public OKs Question #1 Bond Issue

Maine voters said "yes" on June 10th to Question #1, a $29.7 million bond package to pay primarily for transportation improvements in the state. It will also leverage an additonal $29.7 million in funding.

The bond will provide the following:

$10 Million for highways
·$9.675 Million for passenger & freight rail
·$1.2 Million for port and ferry improvements
·$1 Million for transit
·$200 Thousand for airport improvements
·$950 Thousand for pedestrian and bicycle projects
·$6.7 Million for natural resources & clean air initiatives

The $9.675 million in rail money will help improve Maine's passenger and freight rail services.
