For the month of July, 2006 the revenue and ridership numbers as a percentage of growth over 2005 AND as a percentage of forecast for 2006 are again out of sight!

As a whole, Amtrak posted a 2.1% in crease in ridership over last July, with a corresponding 1.7% greater than their forecasted riders.
Additionally Amtrak's revenue showed an 11.6% increase over July 2005.
While the numbers look great, we still need to convince the members of the legislature to find permanent funding for the ongoing operations of the Downeaster. Contact your representatives and senator by phone, mail and email insisting on permanent funding. And while you're at it ask them when we can expect this type of service to Freeport, Brunswick, L/A, Augusta and beyond.
